Drowning in life

our lives are but grains of sand
washed ashore for a few radiant moments
only to be drawn back into the sea

in our blindness we fight
struggling to pull ourselves inland
celebrating the few who reach the mountains
but we don’t belong on top
we belong underneath
our souls drops swirling in the drifting currents

to truly live
is to let go
to let oneself be washed away
to hold the universe loosely
is to be drowning in life
